Fashion Icon Yves Saint Laurent Passes Away
Prodigy, Icon, Mentor, Pioneer; These are just a few words used when discussing the illustrious French Designer Yves Saint Laurent, yet sadly the creator of the famed brand YSL passed away at the age of 71 on Sunday (June 1st) evening, due to complications from brain cancer.
Picked from fashion obscurity at the tender age of 17, he was mentored by none other than the house of Christian Dior which he himself headed in 1957 only to leave a few years later with his own YSL Empire. Saint Laurent is also the creator of the trademarked ‘le–smoking’ line which is the pioneer collection from which tuxedo’s and other typical menswear began to be tailored to females.
Yves Saint Laurent’s funeral is due to take place on Friday in Paris.
Hilton Bags list of Awards
It’s congratulations in abundance for the outstanding service teams of The Hilton Colombo. The hotel was recently singled out from over 500 hotels across the world to be awarded two of the most prestigious and coveted Hilton Brand Awards – the “Asia Pacific Regional Hilton Brand Award Hotel” of 2007 and the “World–wide Hilton Brand Award Hotel” of 2007.
This award comes short after the Hilton Colombo’s culinary expert representatives who participated in the MLA Blackbox Culinary Challenge 2008 Dubai earned 3rd place last week beating 19 other competing teams.
