Shobhaa De
Shobhaa De’ is author, former model, ex–editor of Stardust magazine, social commentator, authority on popular culture, and recently, fashion designer as she made her debut in 2007 launching her line of Cocktail Saris.
Elegance and seduction weaves its way around Shobhaa De’s range of Sarees, as the stark blacks and whites combined with neutrals along with a host of other colors play on fabrics like crepes, chiffons, georgettes, burnout, crushed chiffons and net. Intricate Zari embroidery and patchwork running through the six yards of sensuousness feature mookaish, dabka, crystal and the traditional ‘gota patti’ artwork. Combined with designs woven in shapes of bamboo leaves, cherry blossoms and soothing wave motifs makes evident the Japanese influence in this exotic fusion of colors and patterns.
